STAR striker Besart Berisha says Melbourne Victory’s attacking potency gives rise to hopes of the side producing something special this season.
But the marquee man said Victory is not getting carried away despite Saturday’s dramatic tightening of the race for top spot on the A-League ladder.
Victory’s title odds were slashed in the wake of its 3-0 demolition of cross-town rivals City in Saturday night’s derby in front of over 40,000 at Etihad Stadium.
Perth subsequently suffered a shock 3-1 loss at home to Sydney, meaning its lead at the top of the table over second-placed Victory is now just one point.

Adelaide suffered an equally surprising 2-1 loss away to lowly Central Coast earlier in the day, leaving it three points further adrift.
Victory was in scintillating attacking form against City, with each of its front three — Berisha, Kosta Barbarouses and Fahid Ben Khalfallah — getting on the scoresheet.
In-form playmaker Gui Finkler wasn’t far from the thick of the action all night either, while Archie Thompson was dangerous in his late cameo off the bench.
Berisha said he has the utmost confidence that he and his attacking teammates can cause havoc for all other defences.

“I thought the combination in the front line was amazing,” Berisha said.
“It just gives us another motivation, and hope, for the season, the way we combine together in the front line.
“I always knew that we are really strong up front. We have great quality players and I thought Fahid and Kosta were outstanding last night.
“I’m very confident that this year we can play a big part (in the title race) because we have the players, we have the staff. We have a really good squad this year and I am 100 per cent sure we can be a big part.”
Kevin Muscat’s men were already a $3.50 favourite with TAB, but those odds came in to $3.

Adelaide is a $4.50 second favourite with the Glory $5.50, while Sydney ($6.50) and Wellington ($7) are also in the mix.
But with 11 games still to play until finals, Berisha said the focus is still a narrow one, starting with Saturday night’s trip to Sydney FC.
“For us it’s very important that we are really looking week to week, game to game,” he said.
“We need again to perform every week like this, not just one week. This is our focus now. We need to focus on Sydney and make sure we go there and perform like we did yesterday and if we do this I believe the results will come.”
