THE iPhone 8 rumour mill is already going into overdrive, even though we might not actually see the gadget for another five months.
Yesterday, a reliable source said the fingerprint scanner would be placed on the back of the next iPhone — a design decision which was quickly described as “disastrous”.
The Sun reports the latest piece of Apple gossip has suggested the iPhone 8 will feature the same sort of home button and fingerprint scanner as the current model.
A “blueprint” doing the rounds on Chinese social media suggests the “Touch ID” button will appear on the front.

WHAT IS THE HOME BUTTON AND TOUCH ID?
Every iPhone features a little button at the bottom of the screen. This is called the Home Button, because pressing it when the phone is unlocked brings you back to the main screen where all your apps can be accessed.
When the iPhone 5S was released in 2013, a fingerprint scanner called “Touch ID” was also installed inside the button, meaning you could scan your finger to open up the phone rather than typing in a password.
Unconfirmed tech industry gossip suggests Apple is planning to remove this button from the iPhone 8.
Some people believe a scanner will be installed on the back on the phone.Others have claimed the same functions will be available onscreen. If true, this would allow Apple to install a striking wraparound ‘infinity screen’ which would give the iPhone 8 a striking aesthetic.
THIS IS IT.

WHAT ELSE WILL THE IPHONE 8 HAVE?
Pictures claiming to be dummy iPhone 8, created using a computer-controlled cutting machine known as a CBC router, have emerged online and the new model will be curved.
The photos were posted on Twitter by Benjamin Geskin who said the device consists of “2.5D curved glass” front and back panels.
A stainless steel band goes around the edge which binds the glass sides together and will also be home of the volume and power buttons as well as the mute switch.
Geskin said that the band will be polished black, despite pictures showing it to be silver.
He also claimed the new iPhone 8 will be the same size and thickness as the iPhone 7 but would have dual front cameras.
