MOST professional athletes take it upon themselves to use the millions they earn to keep their bodies in prime shape, NFL running back Eddie Lacy is not one of those athletes.
Lacy has signed a one-year contract with the Seahawks that includes a potential bonus of $500,000 for hitting an undisclosed target weight.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Lacy recently weighed in at 121 kilograms, almost 15 kilograms heftier than he was last season with the Packers.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said he wants his new running back no bigger than 110 kilograms or so — while acknowledging Lacy’s weight may have ballooned after he suffered a season-ending ankle injury last October.
“I want him big. I want him big and tough and strong,” Carroll said on ESPN radio in Seattle. “But I want him in the best shape so that he can run at his best and be durable and handle the load.”
HOW DOES LACY COMPARE TO OTHER SPORTING BEHEMOTHS?
Butterbean

With a head __like an anvil and fists to match Eric ‘Butterbean’ Esch made the most of his 193kg bulk during his long stint as a professional boxer, kickboxer and MMA fighter.
Esch began his career on the ‘Toughman’ contest scene in Texarkana, Arkansas and finished with a professional boxing record of 91 fights for 77 wins, 58 by way of knockout.
Possessing tremendous knockout power he was nobody’s idea of an endurance athlete, though the big man did once go ten rounds with former heavyweight champion Larry Holmes (disclosure — Holmes was 52 at the time).
‘Fat’ Ronaldo

Once the most famous ‘Ronaldo’ on the planet, Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima is widely regarded as one of the 50 greatest footballers to have ever played the game.
A striker with sublime talent, Ronaldo scored 62 goals in 98 appearances for Brazil and 104 goals in 177 appearances as part of Real Madrid’s famous Galacticos era.
His weight ballooned to over 100 kilograms during the latter stages of his time with Real and was instrumental in him being moved on by the club.
Prince Fielder

Baseball star Prince Fielder is listed at 19- centimetres and an optimistic 125 kilograms. At that weight the six time All-Star technically obese, most commentators figure you can add 5-10 kilograms to his listed weight.
A prolific slugger, Fielder’s career was cut short in 2016 due to a herniated disc in his neck, an injury likely caused in part due to his heft.
But the big man should still be able to cover his food bill. Thanks to a strong union MLB salaries are guaranteed, that means Fielder, who signed a $277 million nine-year contract in 2012, will earn $137 million from 2017 through to 2020 and the only thing he’ll need to lift to do it is a drumstick.
Dwayne Leverock

Russell Dwayne Mark Leverock set two records at the 2007 Cricket World Cup — he was the heaviest man to grace the pitch in the tournament and he took the best catch.
Growing up above a curry house in Bermuda, Leverock was always on the hefty side of chunky, but the big man slimmed down to a svelte 122 kilograms in a bid to represent his country in the 2007 competition which was being played on his home turf.
Leverock took 34 wickets in 32 one-day internationals but will forever be remembered as the big man who took this screamer to dismiss Sachin Tendulkar — and celebrated with a lap of honour:
Shaquille O’Neal

Standing a mighty 216 centimetres tall, Shaquille O’Neal weighed 127 kilograms when he joined the NBA in 1992 as the first overall pick in the draft.
Like many young players, O’Neal added bulk during his early stint in the league. Unlike many he kept adding and adding, and as per Fox Sports US’ Charley Rosen, one Australian in particular can take the blame for that.
It was after the Lakers’ first championship in 2000 that Shaq made a decision that had immediate rewards but proved to be a long-range disaster. Feeling that Australian centre Luc Longley was pushing him around in the low post, Shaq felt that he needed to be heavier. In his equation, mass equalled power equalled total domination. He therefore instructed his personal chef to overload his meals with meat and potatoes and the pounds quickly began to accumulate.
By 2002 he weighed 155 kilograms, two years later he was tipping the scales at 170kg.
Still a beast in the paint there can be no doubt the increased load on Shaq’s joints cut into his career with the big man only exceeding 60 games in a season once in his career after 2005-2006.
