THE NFL’s off-season is off to a busy start in the arrest department.
Among the three players arrested within the first two days of Super Bowl XLIX was Colts linebacker D’Qwell Jackson — whose interception in the AFC title game touched off Deflategate.
Also arrested the past two days were Cowboys running back Joseph Randle (marijuana possession) and Packers defensive tackle Letroy Guion (marijuana and firearms possession).
Jackson, who played in the Pro Bowl two weeks ago, was arrested Tuesday night in Washington for simple assault — a misdemeanour — after he allegedly punched a man in the face and back of the head during an argument over a parking space.
Jackson was freed on his own recognisance and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 26 on the charge, which carries a maximum penalty of 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
“When the club learns more of the surrounding facts, it will make an appropriate statement,” the Colts said in a statement acknowledging they were “aware” of Jackson’s arrest.

Randle might have stamped his ticket out of Dallas after being arrested early Tuesday in Wichita, Kan., for possession of a small amount of marijuana in a hotel room.
Police were called to the room by Randle’s girlfriend on a claim of domestic violence, but he ultimately was cited just for marijuana possession.
Randle already was on thin ice with the Cowboys after being arrested last fall in Frisco, Texas, for shoplifting a bottle of cologne and a pack of underwear from a department store.
The theft case still is pending, although the Cowboys fined Randle $29,500 and he was reprimanded by coach Jason Garrett.
Guion appears to be in the biggest trouble after police in Bradford County, Fla., stopped him for a traffic violation Tuesday night and found 357 grams (approximately 12.6 ounces) of marijuana, a handgun and $190,000 in cash when his car was searched because he became “belligerent,” according to the police report.
Both charges are felonies, and Guion was held on $100,000 bail.
Guion, 27, had been a key contributor for the Packers last season in place of the injured B.J. Raji, recording a career-high 32 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks.
