FORGET the likes of the prestigious and super-luxurious Qualia and Wolgan Valley hotels. A little-known Queensland-based property has soared to the top of the rankings of Australia’s ultimate stays.
So how did Xanadu Main Beach Holiday Resort manage to shine above the rest in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards for 2015, in a move that surprised even its own manager?
The self-contained beachfront holiday accommodation on the Gold Coast costs an average of $234 per night, a fraction of the cost of other hotels on the list. And it may look basic, but TripAdvisor reviewers raved about it’s fantastic location, facilities, view and cleanliness.
One TripAdvisor reviewer wrote: “I could not believe the room when we arrived. Modern, clean with all the facilities that you would want for a family. Beautiful views to the beach across the road”.
Apart from just one negative review of the property, everyone rated it either “excellent” or “very good”.
Manager of Xanadu Holiday Resort Duncan Manderson was thrilled it topped the list.
“We’re really pleased to receive this accolade, as voted by the thousands of valuable guests and TripAdvisor users who stay with us each and every year,” Mr Manderson said.
“Our visitors regularly comment on our beach front location, the stunning ocean views and our friendly staff. Coupled with the easy access that our Main Beach property provides to all the fun and excitement that the Gold Coast offers, without the crowds and noise of Surfers Paradise, it ensures a high level of guest satisfaction.”
